Can I save the drywall if it got wet?

Depending on how widespread the flooded drywall is, and how long it remained wet, will determine whether or not you can salvage the drywall. If mold has begun growing widespread, it may be too late and the drywall replaced.

  • Before resorting to ripping out and replacing damaged or flooded drywall, you can wash it with water and bleach and wait to see if the mold comes back.
  • Cut out just the damaged area to see how widespread the damage is.
  • Ensure that the electrical wiring is undamaged underneath the flooded drywall.
